On the outside, it doesn't look like the most spectacular restaurant in Asbury Park, but it is. Owner and chef Nick Tovic has been there since it opened in the 60's. Everything you've heard about Asbury Park, he's seen. From riots to rock revolution and back and forth again a few times. The food is amazing. When I visited, I sat in Diane Keaton's favorite seat with a view of Johnny Cash's former hotel suite window right across the street. (He and his family, along with most of the other movie and music people who came to Asbury Park, got most of their food from there, usually dining in.) Springsteen still orders steaks from there when he's in town.

What a great place! It is not a real dinner place, just 5 things on menu, basically
snacks, but great atmosphere on the beach: casual, over 30 crowd, GREAT drinks. I would not bring kids, just because it is the type of place to bond with your friends, relax (they even have lounger beds in there!). The
snacks
were great and unique as well!

In the 1930’s, Alvin “Stumpy” Thorne sold fresh caught fish in sandwiches,
soups and other treats to tourists on the pier in Spring Lake. The local

So many people ask me how Restaurant Plan B came to be. Well, the short story is…. I was trying to buy a bed and breakfast, and for many reasons, it never came to pass. I was in Florida visiting my 97 year old grandfather who said… “enough with this about a bed and breakfast, just open a restaurant.” So, late one night I went online and found this amazing space for rent.
